Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A new C2 security police centre for Isla Mujeres is officially up and running. Governor Mara Lezama and Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde inaugurated the new Costa Mujeres Command and Control Center (C2) Monday.

The new centre will operate strategically from Punta Sam, an area on the mainland of Isla Mujeres, with state-of-the-art technology and highly trained personnel. The new centre is part of an expansive network of security centres across the state of Quintana Roo.
“This new C2 will reinforce security, surveillance, and social proximity in every corner of our municipality; it is a reflection of our commitment to peace, prevention, and the well-being of island families,” Atenea Gómez said during the opening ceremony.
The Mayor reiterated that the safety of island families and those who visit the destination is and will continue to be a priority.
“We are clear that building a safe municipality is not a task for a single day, nor for a single authority. It is built with investment with daily work and also with the participation of all islanders,” she said.

The project, built on a 993-square-meter site, included the complete renovation of the existing facilities with the adaptation of spaces for operational and administrative staff, totaling 12 offices, an auditorium, three meeting rooms, an operations center equipped with state-of-the-art technology, an analysis area and its own wireless network. It also includes a seven-meter video wall for analysis and supervision.
This security complex will allow monitoring with 673 cameras distributed at strategic points throughout the municipality of which 148 are mirrors of Cancún’s C5, 28 from the private sector and 497 from the municipality.

The new Costa Mujeres C2 centre was with an investment made through the 2024 Annual Investment Program which included municipal resources from the Environmental Sanitation Law and the Municipal Strengthening Contribution Fund.
