Cancun, Q.R. — A new C2 security and command centre being constructed in the Cancun Hotel Zone is expected to soon be finished. According to the Quintana Roo Citizen Security Secretariat, the building is in its final stages.
The Secretary of Security, Julio Cesar Gómez Torres, said the new C2 will allow for more direct and focused response to incidents occurring in tourist areas since it will be interconnected with the state’s main C5 Centre.
“What we’re looking for in the tourist areas is to provide more direct attention given the importance of handling any incident in the state’s tourist zone,” he said.
All municipal command centers are interconnected with the state’s C5 Security Complex so that reports received by 911 or 089 are immediately shared with the C2 centers to provide timely response in coordination with the state.
The C2s are equipped with a monitoring area, an analysis area, access to the Mexico platform databases and state records for investigation and analysis purposes for police intelligence.
The Command and Control Center (C2) is being constructed behind the current Tourist Police facilities at kilometer 12.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard.

Gómez Torres said the new building had an initial budget of 12 million pesos, but an additional 3 million pesos is being spent to complete outdoor areas such as parking and other pending details.
Construction for the new facility was announced in late February of this year. He says the new C2 in the Cancun Hotel Zone is expected to be operational within four months.
