Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The state of Quintana Roo has added an additional 295 police elements to its count. On Friday, the new graduates of 156 women and 139 men were introduced during a graduation ceremony.
The group were awarded certificates after completing successful training in their specified fields. The newly certified police members consist of prison guards, community police and specialized elements for the Jaguar Tactical Group, who spent 15 months training.
During the ceremoney, Governor Mara Lezama said that changing the security situation in the state also implies changing the attitude of the security forces.
The ceremony was held on the civic esplanade of the State Academy of Citizen Security in Chetumal Friday, marking the end of the training of a new group of highly trained police officers.
During the event, Lezama congratulated the 22 members of the Jaguar Tactical Group for having completed the rigorous 15-month training, which positions them as a highly trained force prepared to carry out the missions entrusted to them.
Likewise, seven prison police officers who demonstrated a true commitment to excellence and public service are now instructors who contribute to the training of future generations.
The Governor of Quintana Roo recalled that, from the first day of this different government, with a new way of governing, the constant training of security forces was proposed as a priority and of urgent attention as well as the improvement of their working conditions, which allow building peace and security in Quintana Roo.
“It is not an easy task, nor are there magic formulas to achieve the shared responsibility of establishing a true rule of law. But we are very clear that only through academic preparation, together with the operational training of our law enforcement forces and in coordination with the government of Mexico headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, with the armed forces and the national guard, will we achieve the shared responsibility of establishing peace and tranquility in each of the municipalities of Quintana Roo,” said Mara Lezama.
