Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — The National Housing Commission has presented a preliminary project to build 420 homes. The project was presented during a meeting with Puerto Morelos officials as the first-stage to the federal housing program.
Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz said Andrés Madrigal Hernández from the National Housing Commission (Conavi), presented the first stage of the project. The preliminary project will see the construction of 420 houses of the Housing for Well-being Program.
The mayor said the homes are set to be built on a plot of land located at kilometer 1.5 of the Ruta de los Cenotes.
She said the meeting was attended by the Secretary of Urban Development and Territorial Planning, Rolando Melo Novelo and the Secretary of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development of Quintana Roo, José Alberto Alonso Ovando, with whom the details of the project were reviewed.
Tziu Muñoz said the housing program is an initiative of the federal government whose objective is to guarantee the right to adequate housing for low-income Mexican families, especially those in vulnerable situations.

“For the project to be carried out, the municipality will issue the necessary permits from Urban Development, Environment, and Cadastre.
“In fact, the City Council recently approved an agreement that will grant administrative facilities and tax benefits in support of the Housing for Well-being Program,” Tziu Muñoz explained.
According to the agreement, the necessary municipal permits, licenses and other procedures for carrying out the project and regularizing land tenure will be issued in an agile, simplified and timely manner.
Furthermore, exemptions, subsidies, or waivers of municipal fees, taxes and contributions arising from the construction, regularization, titling, and other related procedures will be granted.
Rolando Melo Novelo reported that the state will issue the corresponding rulings, approvals and feasibility studies for public services, while the federation will grant the necessary environmental permits.

Conavi will be in charge of hiring the construction companies responsible for carrying out the building. The meeting also addressed alternatives for connectivity, mobility, and the provision of public services.
