Xnoh Cruz, Q.R. — More than two dozen families in the small Mayan town of Xnoh Cruz are living in new homes. On Saturday, Mayor Erik Borges Yam, along with dignitaries, delivered 25 new homes to local residents who were in need.
The modest concrete homes were delivered to the 25 Mayan families which cost the government just over 1.7 million pesos. Resources to build the new homes came from the Municipal Social Infrastructure Fund.
Borges Yam is mayor of the municipality of José María Morelos which lies west of the seaside town of Mahahual. The homes that were constructed for low-income families in need allowed them to move from stick and palapa grass huts to a more sturdy concrete constructed home.
Last month, Mayor Borges Yam delivered 10 new homes to low-income families in the Mayan town of Nueva Reforma, also in the municipality.
