Riviera Maya, Q.R. — More than a dozen new air routes are set to start landing at Cancun International during 2026. Of the new flights, 16 are international, connecting Canadian and U.S. cities with Cancun.
Governor Mara Lezama says the opening of 17 new air routes will strengthen the connectivity of Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean. One of the new routes began operating December 20, however, the others will start in the New Year.
Governor Lezama specified that 11 of the new routes will connect with the United States, five more with Canada and one direct route with Dublin, Ireland. These route consolidate Quintana Roo as one of the preferred tourist destinations worldwide, especially for the North American market.
Among the confirmed routes are Oklahoma City–Cancun, operated by American Airlines from December 6 to April 4, Toronto–Cancun and Hamilton–Cancun, operated by Porter Airlines from December 12 as well as Cozumel–Calgary.

That direct Calgary-Cozumel route started December 20 with WestJet and will continue until April 11, 2026.
Overseas, Cancun will begin receiving a Dublin flight operated by Aer Lingus starting January 6, 2026.
Breeze Airways will launch its Cancun–Charleston and Cancun–Norfolk routes in January, and its Cancun–New Orleans and Cancun–Providence routes in February.
Air Transat will connect Cancun with Charlottetown and Fredericton starting in February, while Southwest will inaugurate its Las Vegas–Cancun route on June 4.
Sun Country Airlines will operate the Tulsa–Cancun route starting May 21, 2026, while Frontier Airlines will launch its Charlotte–Cancun, Chicago Midway–Cancun, and Raleigh-Durham–Cancun routes in March of 2026.
Mara Lezama also announced the new Saltillo–Cancun route, operated by Viva Aerobus, which will begin on March 29.
Governor Lezama emphasized that each new air connection represents more visitors, more jobs and greater well-being for Quintana Roo families, and reiterates that she will continue working to ensure that shared prosperity reaches every corner of the state.

“We will continue to promote connectivity so that the Mexican Caribbean remains a world leader in tourism. The transformation is moving forward,” said the Governor.
