Cancun, Q.R. — More than 90 people were arrested over the weekend by Cancun authorities in response to an illegal motorcycle ride. During the nighttime operation, over 100 motorcycles were seized, one of which, was found to be stolen.
The operation was part of the city’s security and peacebuilding strategy promoted by Mayor Ana Paty Peralta. Cancun Police implemented the operation off Chac Mool Avenue in response to citizen complaints of speeding and stunting.

The Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security and Transit, Jaime Padilla Barrientos, said the Sunday morning operation was carried out within the framework of the “Lives in Motion” program based on current Traffic Regulations.
He said the 91 arrests were made for conduct that disturbs public order and for participating in, organizing, or inciting unauthorized vehicular races on public roads.
“As a result of this operation, 91 people were detained, including 33 minors. A 3-year-old child was also found at the site with other participants in the gathering. Additionally, 104 motorcycles were seized, one of which had been reported stolen,” he reported.
“The vehicles were impounded in accordance with Article 59, Section I, of the current Traffic Regulations, while the individuals detained were referred to the Civic Judge for alleged offenses outlined in Article 56,” he added.
The Cancun Police reiterate that these actions are intended to address citizen reports, prevent accidents, strengthen a culture of legality, and ensure that public spaces and roads are safe for everyone.
