Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A large two-hotel complex has been approved for construction in south Playa del Carmen. The complex is set to be built next to Punta Venado in the heart of Riviera Maya.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) authorized the project earlier this week. The Riviera Maya Ecotourism Complex includes the construction of two hotels, a beach club and a commercial area.
The project was submitted to Semarnat in December 2023 by company Oleum Joint Ventures through a unified procedure for change of land use. Last week, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources granted them authorization to start the project.
The company has been granted a period of five years and six months to build the complex. According to the documentation submitted to Semarnat, the complex will be built on the Punta Piedra and Punta Ina Xcaret properties.

The Riviera Maya Ecotourism Complex project includes two hotels, each with 286 rooms developed across 728,887.5 square meters of land.
The completed hotels will add another 572 rooms to the area in addition to a beach club. The property will be complemented with parking, a botanical garden, artificial bodies of water, internal roads, and a general services area.
The developer has reported an estimated total cost of 800 million pesos for the project.
