Mexico sends more ships loaded with humanitarian aid to Cuba

Mexico City, Mexico — The Mexican government has sent a new shipment of humanitarian aid to the people of Cuba. Two Mexican Navy ships left the country yesterday bound for Cuba. They are expected to arrive this weekend.

Approximately 23 tons of the food being delivered was through donations by the people of Mexico through a central donation center in Mexico City.

In compliance with instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum, the Secretariat of the Navy reported that Tuesday, the Papaloapan and Huasteco Logistics Support Ships set sail from the Port of Veracruz.

The ships left Mexico with a total 1,193 tons of food supplies destined for the civilian population of the island of Cuba.

Among the essential food items transported by the ARM Papaloapan ship are beans and powdered milk which total 1,078 tons.

The cargo of the ARM Huasteco ship consists of 92 tons of beans plus 23 tons of various food items.

These 23 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered by various social organizations with the support of the Mexico City Government at a collection center set up in the Historic Center and correspond to a first delivery.

The people of Mexico maintain their tradition of solidarity with the peoples of Latin America, and particularly with the people of Cuba.

The two Mexican ships will deliver over 1,100 tons of food supplies this weekend. February 24, 2026.

“Our country has always provided assistance to our sister nations in need. In recent months, aid has been sent to various countries that have required our support in the face of wildfires in California, the United States, and Chile, floods in Texas, and tragedies caused by natural disasters in several nations across the continent,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

It is the second time this month Mexico has sent shiploads of humanitarian aid to Cuba. The first aid package from Mexico also included tons of food, supplies and essential items.
