Mexican Navy evacuates female cruise passenger from Royal Caribbean ship

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A Royal Caribbean cruise ship passenger was evacuated from the ship after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest. The ship was met by the Navy of Mexico with a medical crew for the hospital transfer.

The female passenger was evacuated from the ship and transferred to Cancun hospital May 6, 2026.

The female passenger was lifted from the ship an onto a Mexican Navy vessel for her transport to land where an ambulance was waiting. The Navy reported her successful transfer onward to a Cancun hospital.

Personnel through the Fifth Naval Region conducted the medical evacuation off the coast of Isla Mujeres.

“This action was carried out after receiving an emergency call from a cruise ship requesting the medical evacuation of a woman who had suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest,” they reported.

A Navy Defender-class vessel withmedical personnel was deployed to the waitng Roycal Caribbean ship.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the woman was assessed and evacuated. She was then transported to Puerto Juárez where she was received by a private ambulance and taken to a hospital in Cancun for further specialized medical care.”
