Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico performed the medical evacuation of a man from an American ARC shipping vessel. The evacuation happened late Monday night after Mexican Marina personnel received the request.

The Mexican Navy, acting as the Coast Guard, dispatched personnel from the Isla Mujeres Naval Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR). Personnel met the ARC (American roll on, roll off carrier) vessel off the coast of Isla Mujeres from where they transferred the 24 year old American crew member to a waiting ambulance.
“This action was carried out after receiving a distress call from the ARC vessel Resolve requesting the medical evacuation of a 24-year-old foreign male with a urological emergency.
“The immediate departure of a MLB-class vessel belonging to the Naval Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) on Isla Mujeres was ordered with specialized rescue personnel and Naval Medical Service personnel on board.

“Upon arrival at the emergency location, the aforementioned person was medically evacuated and transferred to Puerto Juárez, where he was placed in an ambulance for transport to a local hospital for specialized medical care,” they reported.
