Members of organized crime toss human head on busy Puerto Morelos road before firing shots

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — State authorities have become involved with the opening of an investigation after a human head was tossed onto the side of a public Puerto Morelos road. The grisly incident happened late Wednesday morning in broad daylight while motorists passed through the area.

Members of organized crime established in the municipality of Puerto Morelos abandoned the human head at the intersection of Timón Avenue and Vallarta Street in Villas Morelos I. Before fleeing, shots were fired into the air, hitting one bystander.

An orange bucket containing the adult male head was tossed onto the side of the busy street in front of motorists. The unidentified bystander hit by a stray bullet was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Both Municipal Police and personnel from the FGE (State Attorney General) arrived at the site. State Police and National Guard also made an appearance, however, those responsible managed a successful escape before they arrived.

In response to the Wednesday morning incident, the state’s FGE (Fiscalía General del Estado) issued the following update:

The man’s head was removed from the busy Puerto Morelos street.

“The FGE reports on the beginning of an investigation after the discovery of human remains and a person injured by a firearm in the municipality of Puerto Morelos.

“Elements of this Social Representation were at the scene, collecting evidence to integrate into the investigation folder and facilitate their identification.

Evidence was collected from the scene Wednesday morning.

“The State Attorney General’s Office and the municipal security forces work in a coordinated manner to identify those responsible for these events, which appear to be drug related crimes.”
