Mexico City, Mexico — American officials met with Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador Wednesday during a planned meeting in Mexico City. López Obrador met the U.S. government delegation officials at the National Palace.
The meeting was scheduled after a request from López Obrador to U.S. President Joe Biden. In Mexico City was the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas and the Presidential Advisor for Homeland Security, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.
“Important agreements were reached for the benefit of our people and nations. Now more than ever, a good neighbor policy is essential,” López Obrador said of the meeting without providing details.
On his social networks, he said that the meeting aimed to directly address issues of economic cooperation, security and migration, but did not dive into specifics.
“We ask President Biden to meet with Secretaries Antony Blinken, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Presidential National Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, to directly address issues of economic cooperation, security, and migration.
“Important agreements were reached for the benefit of our people and nations. Now more than ever, a good neighbor policy is essential,” he posted on X.
