Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Two lifeguard towers and a new tourist help module are set for the town of Puerto Morelos. An investment of one million pesos will be used to rebuild one lifeguard tower and construct an information module and additional lifeguard tower.
“With the goal of giving greater importance to one of the vital elements of Puerto Morelos’ economic engine as a tourist destination, we are implementing the 2025 Beach Infrastructure Program,” announced Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.
Mayor Merari Tziu says the one million peso investments are resources through the collection of Environmental Sanitation Fees generated by tourists visiting the area. Therefore, the collected money will be directly applied to improvements to the tourist area’s furnishings as approved by the Technical Committee of the Puerto Morelos Municipality’s Environmental Sanitation Fee Investment and Administration Trust.
“We are strengthening the safety, functionality and beauty of our coastal area, key elements for enjoying clean beaches with decent infrastructure. That’s why this project includes the repair of the lifeguard tower at Playa Sol and the installation of an Information Module at Ventana al Mar,” she stated.

Blanca Merari took a brief tour of Playa Sol accompanied by the Secretary of the Environment, Animal Welfare, and Sustainable Mobility, Aimee Regina Rodríguez Vivas and the Secretary of Public Works, Mario Salinas Castro.

The head of Public Works explained that the lifeguard tower located at Playa Sol will be completely renovated, including structural maintenance, the staircase, railing, access door and special wood paint treatment.

At Ventana al Mar, Salinas Castro explained that a completely new wood information center will be installed to provide information and guidance to visitors. In addition, a new lifeguard tower will be built, also made of local hardwood, with a roof, benches, ladder and a foundation reinforced with wooden piles.
