As a recent property buyer in Tulum, I cant help but to notice the similarities between the 1970’s urban trash issues and what’s going on in Tulum today. From everyday household trash to construction debris, the mess is everywhere you look.
Of course its not on the beach road but everywhere else you turn there is a pile of broken concrete. How can the city pave a road and push the debris to the curb line? Its sheer laziness and looks unbelievably bad.
Enforcement and education is the key to turn this around. Every villa should be forced to provide a large receptacle with a lid for their occupants trash. They should also be required to hire a company to dump on a regular basis
I applaud the efforts on the main roads with the placement of city trash receptacles, however more needs to be done. Take pride Tulum! Cleaning up is contagious. When it looks good people think twice about throwing that bottle out the window!
