Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A group of Isla Mujeres kids spent the day learning about public safety Friday. The kids learned about police work, dressed uniform and toured the C2 security facilities.

With the goal of strengthening the bonds of trust between youth and public safety officers, a social outreach event was held Friday in which young islanders experienced being “Police for a Day.”
This was part of the “Get Active in Spring” course promoted by the Isla Mujeres government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde.
This strengthened values such as discipline, respect, and responsibility among young adolescents, who had the opportunity to learn about, learn about, and appreciate the important work performed by municipal police officers. This initiative is the result of coordinated work between the Isla Mujeres Police and the Youth Directorate.
For Atenea Gómez, these actions are part of the peacebuilding effort that the municipality seeks to consolidate, making it safer, more orderly, and supportive, where young people grow up with principles and understand that prevention and safety begin at home and with the participation of everyone.

The event was organized by the General Directorate of Citizen Security, under the supervision of Commander Cristian Linares Gómez, in collaboration with the Youth Directorate, headed by Axel Canché Pool, who joined forces to provide the youth with a personal, educational, and enriching experience.
The youth took a guided tour of the Citizen Security facilities, including the C2 Command and Control Center and the Police House, where they learned about the operational and administrative areas, as well as the operating protocols.

They also heard the experiences and testimonies of Citizen Security officers, led by Commander Linares Gómez, who shared the challenges and satisfactions of serving and protecting the community. They also received a practical self-defense class.
