Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Municipal authorities of Isla Mujeres have expanded their C2 security coverage. Ángel Hernández Azueta, the General Director of Public Works, said the space has been doubled.
“As part of the transformative projects promoted by the Municipal Government headed by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, the facilities of the C2 Command and Control Center were expanded and equipped to strengthen surveillance in Isla Mujeres,” he said.
Hernández Azueta said that the space of the C2 has been doubled from 30 square meters to 60.
“New administrative offices, a meeting room and a radio area were built and we expanded the SITE area,” he reported.
The Director of the Command and Control Center, Darvi Amado Ordóñez Avilés, explained that the C2 is made up of three areas. Mexico Platform, Radio Center and the main area which is the Municipal Monitoring Center where the main avenues, parks and strategic places are monitored in real time 24 hours a day.
He said that there are 338 surveillance cameras in 93 monitoring points distributed throughout the municipality to improve the capacity to respond in real time to any emergency that may occur.
Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde toured the expanded facilities earlier this week to verify the project was carried out and verify its proper functioning.
According to Avilés, they receive an average of 15 reports per day of which 10 correspond to the Insular Zone and five to the Continental Zone. Most reports are disturbances of public order, domestic violence and traffic accidents.
