Riviera Maya, Q.R. — An incoming system of cold air from the U.S. is going to have an affect on Yucatan Peninsula weather. The hot sunny days being enjoyed will come to a halt with the official arrival of the cold weather Wednesday.

The system, cold front 31, is expected to reach the state of Quintana Roo Wednesday evening. The arrival of U.S. cold winter air will create thunderstorms and showers for most of the peninsula.
According to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN), cold front No. 31 will cause rain in central, eastern and southeastern areas of the country. Strong wind gusts are also expected. State Civil Protection is reminding residents to check with local port authorities before heading out to sea.
On Tuesday, three Mexican states were left without electricity due to winds with the arrival of the cold front 31. According to the CFE, the front left more than 300,000 in the north without power.
