Cancun, Q.R. — A violent out-of-state criminal group targeting high-end Cancun homes to rob have been caught. State authorities reported Monday that the six of them were captured with help from Chiapas police.
Six people police referred to as a “highly violent group” were arrested in a joint operation with the Interinstitutional Group. They were captured in the city of Cancun on outstanding warrants from the state of Chiapas.

Authorities in Quintana Roo said Monday morning the group was in the state to set up a new branch in the city of Cancun. The six, police said, were arrested “in compliance with an arrest warrant by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Chiapas, due to their alleged participation in armed robberies of homes in various parts of the country.”
They were arrested in two separate operations in Cancun over the weekend. Three people were arrested on Itzal Avenue in SM 38. Police reported that 42 year old Kenny Yoonathan “N” and 38 year old María Isabel “N” both Colombian nationals, were arrested along with 23 year old José Antonio “N” from the state of Guerrero.
Police also captured 27 year old Colombian Juan Camilo “N” as well as 41 year old Daniel “N” and Marco Antonio “N” (no age provided) from Mexico City.
At the two arrest points, policed found two firearms, two vehicles, four license plates from the state of Chiapas, various doses of marijuana and ten cell phones.
According to the investigation, Kenny Yoonathan “N” has been identified as the leader of this highly violent group. Their modus operandi involved recruiting Colombian and Mexican nationals to carry out robberies.
Police said that José Antonio “N” handled the logistics of renting vehicles.
The gang used websites to rent homes in exclusive areas where they met to study the movements of the neighbors and select their targets.
“Once they chose a house, they would put fake license plates on the rented cars and break into the homes carrying firearms, not caring if the owners were present at the time,” police reported.

“This criminal cell is accused of two violent robberies in the Campestre subdivision of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, where they obtained loot totaling more than 6 million pesos.”
The Quintana Roo FGE said that due to their intervention, “this criminal group was prevented from establishing its base of operations in Quintana Roo.”
The five men and one woman were handed over to authorities and returned to the state of Chiapas Sunday to face a string of charges.
In a statement, the FGE of Chiapas reported “the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Chiapas, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo and the Secretariat of People’s Security in Cancun, apprehended Juan “N”, Marco “N”, Daniel “N”, Jose “N”, Maria “N” and Kenny “N”.

“The first four of Colombian nationality and the last two of Mexican nationality, as alleged perpetrators of the crime of aggravated robbery with violence, for events that occurred on January 30, 2026, in the Granjas del Club Campestre subdivision of Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
“According to the investigation, this crime committed in the Chiapas capital was against residents of two homes in the aforementioned location, when the accused entered their homes and threatened them with firearms, tied them up and locked them in their rooms, to seize a significant sum of cash.
“The suspects, who are members of a gang dedicated to robbery in different parts of the country, were transferred to the state of Chiapas and placed at the disposal of the Judicial District of Tuxtla, Chiapas and Cintalapa, to determine their legal status.

“With these actions, the State Attorney General’s Office reiterates its commitment to working in coordination with agencies in other states to combat crime and guarantee security and peace with Zero Impunity.”
