Governor forms storm coordination committee as Atlantic systems continue to develop

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama has installed a storm Command Center to coordinate with municipalities. The newly formed Centre is meant to keep state residents informed and up-to-date on weather developments in the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea.

The new Command Centre consists of members of the Navy, Army and National Guard who will coordinate with the municipal mayors on developing weather systems.

The new Command Centre is made up of General David Morales Hernández of the Cancun Military Garrison, Freddy Balanzar Lozano, the state coordinator of the National Guard, Rear Admiral Jorge Luis García Cansino, representative of the Ninth Naval Region of the Navy Secretariat, the State’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Julio César Gómez, the Office Manager of the Benito Juárez City Council, Pablo Gutiérrez, and the General Secretary of Benito Juárez, Antonio Riveroll.

Lezama says all corporations, federal, state and municipal, work in a coordinated manner with a surveillance center for the two current systems, one of which is causing heavy rain across the state.

The Command Centre will work together to inform residents of weather systems.

Governor Lezama says state coordination allows for better attention to the population in the face of the prevailing weather conditions. She also says that with the ongoing weather conditions, rain prevention operations remain active in Quintana Roo.
