Cancun, Q.R. — A man reported to be a former member of the National Guard is in custody for the stabbing death of his wife. The man was taken into custody and his children removed from the home after 9-1-1 reports of a domestic dispute.
The woman, who is reported to have been his wife and mother of his two children, died after being stabbed with a kitchen knife. The intense argument between the couple was reported by neighbors in SM 41 of Cancun Monday morning.
Municipal police arrived at the at Piscis Street address along with paramedics and personnel from the Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence (GEAVIG).
Inside the home they found two injured adults inside a bedroom. One, the woman, was pronounced dead. The second, the man, was taken to hospital for a cut to his neck. It is not known if the cut was self-inflicted.
In police custody is 33-year-old Felipe “O” who is accused of stabbing his wife with a kitchen knife during an argument. His wife, 35-year-old Sonia Vianey “N”, died as a result of a penetrating wound to the neck.
Paramedics transported the alleged attacker to hospital for treatment for a seven-centimeter injury to his jugular vein. Two minors, aged five and 12, were removed from the home.

During a press conference Monday, Quintana Roo Attorney General (FGE) Raciel López announced that his office has opened an investigation.
“She was killed by her partner Felipe Octavio who was also injured with a knife and is now in custody. We will apply all protocols for femicide and we will work to ensure that he is brought to justice as quickly as possible so that he can face trial in prison,” he reported.
