Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Repairs being made along the federal 307 highway are approximately 60 percent complete. Potholes and sinkholes, along with other highway deficiencies created by the construction of the Maya Train, are being corrected from Cancun to Chetumal.
The highway repairs are being made by the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), who is in charge of the more than 380 kilometers of road being rehabilitated, said Rafael Lara, Secretary of Public Works of Quintana Roo.
“Sections are being repaired. Some are already finished while others are just starting. Work is being done in sections so the entire project is finish at the same time. This joint operation will allow for total repairs and not segmented as happened before that caused traffic delays and a lack of adequate supervision,” he explained.
According to Lara, the most affected highway sections are Chetumal-Bacalar, Bacalar-Felipe Carrillo Puerto and from Cancun International Airport to Puerto Morelos.

Lara is asking motorists for patience while traveling Quintana Roo highways where the repairs are being carried out.
“We are repairing Highway 307. It is project carried out by the Sedena and we are coordinating the work with them. We now have 60 percent progress.
“For months we were promoting these road repair projects since the Maya Train is finished, so these projects can begin which have allowed us to repair the poor conditions of the roads.
“Governor Mara Lezama promised that Quintana Roo would be one of the first states to begin these repairs, achieving that the work would start at the beginning of 2025,” he explained.
Lara says 1.2 billion pesos is being spent to repair the state’s federal highway system, resources applied directly from the Federal Government through the Secretariat of National Defense in coordination with the state.

According to information from the Federal Government, the Ministry of National Defense is repairing highways and rural roads affected by the construction of the Maya Train. The national investment is estimated at five billion pesos.
