Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal judge has sentenced a man to more than 15 years for extortion and privacy violation. The man, Roger Armando Marín Uc, is the father of her two children.
“The events for which he was sentenced occurred when the victim requested recognition of paternity and child support payments for her two minor children,” police reported.

“Following this, she initiated the corresponding legal proceedings which resulted in a court ruling that compelled the defendant to register the children and fulfill this obligation.
“Subsequently, Roger Armando Marín Uc threatened the victim with releasing a sexually explicit video recorded without her consent during their relationship. As a result, the victim dropped her child support claim, however, in April 2016, she filed a new child support lawsuit.
“Faced with this situation, the accused reiterated his threats and sent the video with the intention of intimidating her. The same video was later posted on social media.
“He also contacted her, demanding that she drop the lawsuit, warning that he would distribute the video in schools and daycare centers if she did not. The video was shared on several occasions and sent to people close to the victim with the aim of pressuring her to abandon the legal action.”
Roger Armando Marín Uc has been sentenced to 15 years for extortion along with a fine of 58,432 pesos and 52,500 pesos in damages for emotional distress.
He was also given a six-month prison sentence for violating family and/or personal privacy in addition to a fine of 7,304 pesos.
