Cozumel, Q.R. — The FGE says they are investigating an early morning fire that left a Cozumel company destroyed. On Sunday, the State Attorney General (FGE) pointed to an electrical fault as their first line of investigation into the fire that left Aviomar Adventours in ruins.
According to the company, the fire happened during the night of December 20 and is “still pending on clarification”. They reported that most of their equipment and part of their operational facilities were affected by the blaze.
“Aviomar Adventours informs the public, partners, and clients that during the night of December 20, our ATV base camp in Cozumel has suffered an incident still pending on clarification, resulting in a fire that caused significant damage to most of our equipment and part of the operational facilities,” they said in a released statement Sunday afternoon.

“Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the situation was contained without affecting nearby communities.
“We are currently working closely with the local authorities to follow all corresponding legal procedures and investigations to determine the origin of the incident. As a precautionary and responsible measure, Aviomar’s ATV operations will be temporarily suspended until further notice.
“Our team is actively assessing the remaining inventory and evaluating alternative operational solutions in order to resume service as soon as conditions allow, always prioritizing safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.
“We appreciate the understanding and support of our clients, partners, and the community. Further updates will be shared as soon as additional information becomes available.
“Aviomar remains fully committed to delivering safe, high-quality experiences and to the responsible recovery of this operation.”
On Sunday morning, the FGE also released a brief statement about the fire and their investigation.
“The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) reports a fire that occurred early Sunday morning on a property in the municipality of Cozumel. Authorities extinguished the blaze, which resulted only in property damage; no injuries were reported.

“The Attorney General’s Office is currently conducting an investigation, with one of the main lines of inquiry focusing on a possible short circuit originating in one of the vehicles stored at the location. Other lines of investigation are also being considered.
