Domestic and gender violence talks given to Quintana Roo students

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — More than 1,600 students were given talks on gender violence around  Quintana Roo. Specialized officers gave the talks to the students in Benito Juárez, Puerto Morelos, Solidaridad, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Othón P. Blanco.

A total of 34 workshops were held last week alone reaching 1,602 students who were taught about domestic and gender violence. The talks were given by specially trained police from the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC).

“In order to address domestic violence, violence against women and feminicidal violence, work was intensified through various actions carried out by elements of Liaison with Instances in the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Puerto Morelos, Solidaridad, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Othón P. Blanco,” the SSC reported.

“The program “Environments free of violence / AVGM IN SITU” was deployed, which aims to establish violence-free spaces, reaching 34 actions in this last week including conferences, workshops, talks and information sessions, benefiting 1,602 people.

“Also, the elements worked on the prevention project “Let’s live Without Violence” in nine rural locations of a Mayan-speaking population, promoting women’s rights and the eradication of violence as well as their empowerment and the promotion of new masculinities.

“In this regard, 26 actions were carried out with 828 people benefiting,” the state police agency reported.
