Director of Security says new surveillance cameras to be installed on Isla Mujeres public beaches

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Authorities spent a portion of Thursday determining where 30 new surveillance cameras will be installed on Isla Mujeres beaches. Municipal officials have reported that the public beach areas on the island of Isla Mujeres will have surveillance cameras.

A total of 30 new cameras and 10 new monitoring points are being determined prior to installation. The cameras, once installed, will be connected to the municipal C2 Command and Control Centre.

The General Directorate of Citizen Security and Traffic of Isla Mujeres reported “30 new surveillance cameras and 10 new monitoring points will be installed to reinforce the permanent monitoring carried out through C2.

“These devices are added to the 250 existing in the 65 monitoring points that currently exist throughout the municipality.”

In a brief statement, Isla Mujeres City Hall said the cameras are being installed “in order to reinforce the security of island families and the thousands of visitors who arrive daily at the destination.

“The Government of Isla Mujeres seeks to strengthen the C2 Command and Control Center with new monitoring points in the beach area.”
