Cancun, Q.R. — A search of a property illegally building in a Cancun suburb has resulted in it being closed. The property was closed down Saturday after inspectors paid a visit to the building project in the Alfredo V. Bonfil delegation.
A judge issued a search warrant that was executed by the FGE Saturday for a property located on the border of the Alfredo V. Bonfil delegation with the city of Cancun called the Oriolo development.
The warrant was requested after a complaint was filed by the head of the Ecology Department of Benito Juarez.
During the execution of the court order, personnel detected the possible commission of acts allegedly constituting crimes against the environment, extraction and damage to the vegetation cover, and against urban development.
Agents from the Secretariat of the Navy also participated in this search, in addition to personnel from the College of Biologists of the State of Quintana Roo, who confirmed that the site has an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, which was completely cleared and deforested without permits for its development.

This surface was subsequently filled and compacted with stone material. Likewise, during the search, they observed organic waste such as branches, trunks and weeds, the product of the clearing activities which shows an imminent environmental deterioration, with serious repercussions towards the flora, fauna, soil and ecosystems.
Initial investigations indicate the developers of the property lack municipal or state authorization to carry out the aforementioned work.Ssimilarly, they lack municipal permits for real estate construction, yet they continue to offer lots for sale.

Therefore, the participating agents proceeded to secure the property, which was placed under the custody of the State Attorney General (FGE).
