Cozumel, Q.R. — The Third International Market of Magic Towns came to an end with great success for Cozumel in San Antonio, Texas. Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo reported holding business meetings to attract more visitors and strengthen overnight tourism.
Initially, there were 14 meetings planned, but expectations were exceeded with a total of 42 meetings scheduled from June 28 to 30 with agents and wholesale tour operators, reported the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, Badih Sleme Flores.
Flores, who also attended the International Market in Texas, said meetings were held with wholesale tour operators, making a different promotion of Cozumel that is much more than just sun and sand.
The display of handicrafts and textiles made by Cozumel artisans, as well as honey-based products made in Cozumel, were of great interest he said, as was general island information on attractions such as Carnival.
Flores says as part of the business meetings, a presentation will be sent shortly to more than 100 travel agencies in the U.S. with the support of the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV).
He explained the presentation will include Cozumel’s historical attractions, traditions and customs that make it unique as a Magic Town.
