Ciudad Obregón, Sonora — A city in the state of Sonora has recorded its lowest temperature in 30 years. On Tuesday, Ciudad Obregón recorded 4 degrees Celsius, breaking its previous low record of 4.5 ° C from the year 1992.
According to Gilberto Lagarda Vázquez from the National Water Commission (Conagua), the temperature broke the previous December 14 recorded temperature.
“On Tuesday morning, the minimum temperature record for December 14 in Ciudad Obregón was broken. The previous record was 4.5 ° C from the year 1992, 30 years ago,” he said.
He also said that “on Tuesday morning, the minimum temperature record for December 14 in the city of Hermosillo had been matched by a low temperature record set 35 years ago.”
Negative temperatures were felt in the state’s mountainous regions that ranged between -5 and -7 degrees Celsius or 23 F to 19 F. The low temperatures come after the announcement of the first snowfall in the country in late November.
