Mexico records its first snowfall of the season

Galeana, Nuevo León — The first snowfall of the season fell during the early hours of Tuesday in Galeana, Nuevo León. State Civil Protection reported that the thickness of the snow was between seven and nine centimeters, which fell on Cerro del Potosí, in the municipality of Galeana.

The low temperature recorded was -4 degrees Celsius, which by dawn, had increased to -1 degrees. “The first snowfall of the season was recorded at dawn on Tuesday, with a temperature of -4 degrees Celsius,” Civil Protection reported.

According to the state Civil Protection, the snowfall was reported in the municipality of Galeana, south of Monterrey, on a hill that is part of the Sierra Madre Oriental which rises to 3,713 meters above sea level.
