Hernán Magaña Vargas, the General Director of Isla Mujeres Tourism and Economic Development, says unlike other destinations in Quintana Roo, Isla Mujeres has a good influx of visitors.

“Just walk along the Malecón and stroll along the Central and North Beaches to see that the island is full of tourists,” he said.

“Isla Mujeres’ beaches are unique. They have Blue Flag and Platinum Beach certifications, placing Playa Norte and Playa Centro among the best in the world for their cleanliness, order, safety, sustainability, water quality and environmental education, among other criteria,” he explained.

The municipal official emphasized that the government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez, is promoting tourism promotion strategies and campaigns, such as Love Isla Mujeres, that seek to expand the Quintana Roo market and continue generating shared prosperity for the benefit of island families.

Magaña Vargas reiterated that the goal is to diversify the market and offer more options during the off-season, promoting the unparalleled beauty, culture, traditions, and history of the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Isla Mujeres among the people of Quintana Roo.

He also stressed how spectacular the beaches of Isla Mujeres are since they are sargassum-free thanks to Isla Mujeres warriors from Zofemat who are constantly on guard.
