PDC pastor charged in rape of teen church member

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man identified as a church pastor in Playa del Carmen has been charged with the rape of a teenager. The teen, a minor, was a member of his church, according to police.

The suspect, authorities have identified as Antonio “N”, was charged Friday “due to his possible involvement in acts likely constituting the crime of rape against a minor victim.”

In a statement, they said “the incidents for which Antonio “N” is being investigated first occurred on February 23 of this year, when the teenage victim went to his home, located on Ibis Street in the Villas del Sol subdivision to help his wife make tamales.

“She knew the now-defendant, as he was the pastor of the church she regularly attended with her family.

“The next day, the victim returned to the home of Antonio “N” to cook with his wife, who had gone out to run an errand, a moment that the subject allegedly took advantage of to rape her again, so the teenager decided not to return to his place.

“In October of this year, the young woman was tricked back into the pastor’s home, where he possibly raped her again. This happened on other occasions until one of the victim’s brothers found out what had happened and, along with the victim’s mother, reported the incident.”

A judge has ordered him to remain in pretrial detention for the duration of the judicial proceedings.
