Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two people were treated for injuries Saturday night due to an LP gas explosion. Firemen and Civil Protection were called to an island tenement building in the La Gloria neighborhood by residents who heard the explosion.

Emergency services were at an address on Pámpano Street where they located a 20 liter LP gas tank that had caught fire and flared inside their apartment. A man and woman from inside were treated for injuries.
Members of the Isla Mujeres Fire Department extinguished the fire and removed the faulty tank. The explosion is reported to have been caused by a leaking tank valve. Both the adult man and woman were transferred to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
In a briefing, Isla Mujeres City Hall reported “firefighters responded promptly to a report of a gas tank valve explosion in the La Gloria neighborhood, across from the Escaleras de Colores.
“The affected families received timely attention, and thanks to the immediate intervention of emergency services, the situation was brought under control and the incident prevented from escalating.”
