Cancun, Q.R. — A man died Thursday afternoon after being shot while in his front yard. The area resident was found laying dead on the ground around 3:30 p.m. in SM 244.
Neigbors off Gastón Alegre López Avenue reported hearing gunshots before seeing a man laying on the ground. Municipal Police officers arrived at the address in colonia México, near the municipal border of Isla Mujeres where they confirmed a shot male.
The man, reported to be in this 30s, was confirmed dead at the scene. Police cordoned off the area while personnel from the State Attorney General (FGE) arrived to begin a murder investigation.
Several spent 9-millimeter shell casings were lifted from the area.
The man has been identified as Daniel “N”. Those responsible for the shooting have not been located.
