City Council agrees to land donation for new Isla Mujeres water sump

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Isla Mujeres City Council has handed over land to the Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado (CAPA) for the construction of a water sump in Cuidad Mujeres. On Friday, City Hall voted unanimously in donating the land which was donated to the municipality after the death of a private citizen.

“A 3,718.56 square meter plot of land, located in the La Cristiana neighborhood, has been handed over for the construction of the first drinking water sump in Ciudad Mujeres,” Isla Mujeres City Hall reported Friday.

“This represents a significant achievement of the municipal administration, headed by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, since with this handover to the Potable Water and Sewer Commission (CAPA), an important step is taken so that the Aguakán company can begin the work that will bring drinking water to the families of the Continental Zone,” the Cabildo de Isla Mujeres explained in a statement.

The Mayor of Isla Mujeres expressed her gratitude for this important step toward the sustainable development of Ciudad Mujeres and thanked the family of Mr. Jorge Puerto Valencia (RIP), for providing the land to start this project that will benefit the families of the Continental Zone.
