CFE called in during the night to deal with Cancun power outage

Cancun, Q.R. — Power has been restored to the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision of Cancun after a Wednesday night blackout. Citizens took to the street after spending hours in the dark. They were met by City Council member Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández who called in CFE personnel.

The group of residents and City Hall officials met on a darkend Niños Héroes Avenue in Villas Otoch Paraíso after the area lost power late Wednesday night. CFE personnel were called in early Thursday morning in response to residents protesting the interruption in the electricity supply.

Upon instructions from Mayor Ana Patricia Peralta, Cancun Secretary General Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández met with citizens, reiterating that in Cancun, the government listens, responds, and acts hand in hand with its people, he said.

While in the area, Gutiérrez Fernández coordinated repairs with personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Municipal Public Services and members of the Fire Department. Thanks to this intervention, electricity was restored in the area.

Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández met with residents late Wednesday night.

Gutiérrez Fernández said that this issue of power loss will be closely monitored, as civil works are required to ensure the community does not suffer similar impacts again.

“Our commitment is clear: to serve our people, resolve issues promptly, and work toward long-term solutions,” he stated.

CFE was brought in and power restored early Thursday morning.

“The municipal government thus reaffirms its commitment to closeness, care, and collaborative work with the people of Cancun, particularly in areas where infrastructure strengthening and quality basic services are most needed,” Mayor Peralta said.
