Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Isla Mujeres Civil Protection spent the afternoon cutting downed trees and clearing flooded streets after the passing of a system. The system left a majority of the state wet, however, some areas in the north were hit harder with heavy rains and winds.

Isla Mujeres Civil Protection Director Guillermo Núñez Leal verified the clean ups that were required after parts of the island were left damaged from the Wednesday afternoon system.
Several trees broke loose, falling over to leave public roads blocked, while one CFE pole dislodged from its base, causing a power outage. A central section of the island was left without electricity for nearly three hours while CFE worked to repair the pole.

The island was one of the harder hit areas by the 4:00 p.m. system that took more than two hours to pass. The state has seen several strong systems pass already during this year’s rainy season, which officially began June 1.
