Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum mayor Diego Castañón Trejo, gave the green light to begin two large paving projects in the municipality. During the inauguration, Public Works Director Santos Hipólito Tuz Chi, reported on the project.
He said that the large project will be done in five sections which include Section 1, Calle 8 with Av. 5 Sur, Section 2, south 11th street between Av 5 south to 12th street, Section 3, 12th street between south 11th street to west 13th street, Section 4, west 13th street, between 12th street and Kukulkan Avenue and Section 5, Lolbeh Street between Kukulkan Avenue and south 18th street.
The project will also include the addition of 17 drains. In total the repaving and drains will cost just over 16.1 million pesos.
Castañón Trejo added that the maintenance and desilting of the existing absorption wells will also be completed for an additional cost of nearly 3 million pesos. In total 17 new drains will be construction and 11 rehabilitated.
The work is being done in the La Veleta neighborhood and the construction of new absorption, maintenance and desilting wells of those existing in the municipal seat.
“This is another achievement for this administration. It is a very important project, a project of almost 17 million pesos, a paving that will practically reach the Kukulkan and as we always say, for the citizens of this municipality.
“This piece was a little tricky when we started doing it, but it was done. And we are going to continue working with the support of our governor Mara Lezama and together, we are all going for the same project, a better Tulum,” he said during the inaguration.
Officials did not say how long the project would take or provide an anticipated finish date.
