Cancun, Q.R. — Police say a Cancun suspect wanted for rape, domestic violence and attempted murder has been arrested. The man, who was wanted in Cancun, was arrested in Merida after fleeing the city.
The Attorney General of Quintana Roo reported that in collaboration with the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat, Arturo Antonio “N” was arrested in the city of Mérida “for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crime of rape against a female person.”
According to police, Arturo Antonio “N” is also being investigated for domestic violence and attempted femicide. He was served with an arrest warrant after attempting to evade justice by fleeing the city of Cancun.
“Following the complaint and the investigation, the FGE of Quintana Roo activated inter-institutional collaboration mechanisms, sending official letters to the prosecutor’s offices and attorney general’s offices in the 31 states of the Republic,” they said.
That, “in addition to requesting INTERPOL to issue a red notice and immigration alerts for his international search. As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at the defendant’s home in Cancun.”

Police say the victim was the former girlfriend of Antonio “N” who she dated for approximately three years. “Over time, the defendant began to use psychological and emotional violence, which progressively escalated until, in the early morning of November 3, 2024, the attacker beat and suffocated her inside a nightclub on Kukulcán Boulevard.”
After that incident, authorities “activated the comprehensive care protocol: a psychological assessment of the victim was conducted, the corresponding investigation orders were issued and forensic expert reports were requested.”
The woman was granted a restraining order.
According to police, “for seven months, the victim had no contact with the aggressor until June 22, 2025, when Arturo Antonio “N” forcibly entered her home, physically assaulted her and raped her, events for which the arrest warrant was issued and executed, issued by a judge.”

Home video of the June assault was released online, showing the man physically abusing his former girlfriend. According to local media, Antonio “N” is the son of a wealthy businessman who has been able to influence law enforcement in the past in avoiding charges in two similar investigations.
