Cancun police capture armed jet ski dealer who fired at officers during failed escape

Cancun, Q. R. — An armed man was captured by police when his jet ski failed to start during an attempted getaway. The incident happened in Puerto Juárez Sunday when two men were seen exchanging small bags of narcotics.

When police approached, one man got away on foot while the other fired at shot at officers before attempting to flee on his jets ki, however, it failed to start. As a result, Víctor Manuel “N” was inspected at which time police found the loaded handgun he used to fire at officers.

In a statement, Cancun police reported “members of the Centurion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, in coordination with personnel from the Navy, were conducting prevention and surveillance patrols when they observed two men exchanging plastic bags containing green plants that looked similar to marijuana.

“As a result, verbal instructions were issued, however, upon noticing the police presence, one of the individuals pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the officers and fired it, but failed to achieve his objective.

“He subsequently attempted to flee aboard a white and blue jet ski which failed to start, so he was detained and inspected. The incident occurred on the sandy beach in the Puerto Juárez. The second individual fled running out of sight.

“During the inspection, a white and blue Yamaha 4-Stroke jet ski was seized, a black CZ 75-80 handgun, caliber 9 mm, with a magazine loaded with seven live rounds of the same caliber, 89 plastic bags containing green marijuana-like material, as well as a backpack and a cell phone.”
