Cancun Hotel Zone swimmer saved from drowning at Playa San Miguelito

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun swimmer was saved from drowning Friday after being rescued by another swimmer. Emergency responders arrived at Playa San Miguelito to provide medical assistance.

A 23 year old male was taken to hospital after being pulled from the water by another beachgoer. Juan Carlos “N” was rescued after being swept out to sea by the strong rip current.

The 23 year old was taken to hospital April 3, 2026.

He was with a group of friends at Playa San Miguelito in the Cancun Hotel Zone Friday afternoon where he entered the water.

Cancun firemen responded to the report of the near drowning. “On the afternoon of April 3, members of the Cancun Fire Department responded to a report of a person being rescued on the beach in the Hotel Zone.

“Upon arriving at the scene,lifegurads confirmed that swimmers had already managed to pull a person out of the water, so first aid was immediately provided, showing signs of drowning.

“Subsequently, the person was assessed by paramedics and taken to a hospital for medical attention.

“The service was carried out in coordination with Cancún Civil Protection lifeguards, medical services and authorities, prioritizing timely care at all times.

“We recommend to citizens and visitors:

  • Respect the instructions of the lifeguards.
  • Avoid entering the sea in adverse conditions.
  • Do not swim alone.

“Your safety is the most important thing. In the event of any emergency on the beach, approach the lifeguard personnel or report immediately to the number 911.”
