Cancun, Q.R. — Two people were rescued by Cancun lifeguards after being dragged out to sea. The weekend rescue of two happened off Playa Marlin in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
According to Cancun Civil Protection, the pair were swimming when they entered a rip current and were dragged away from the shore. On-duty lifeguards who saw what was happening were quick to rush into the water to retrive them.
Both were reached and returned to the beach by Civil Protection lifeguards. Officials reported that neither required medical attention.
In briefing, Protección Civil Cancún reported on the successful water rescue at Playa Marlin.

“Cancun Civil Protection lifeguards carried out a multiple rescue at Marlin Beach, near kilometer 13, after two people were swept away by the current while on a sandbar.
“Both individuals were brought to safety and did not require medical transport.
We reiterate our call to respect the instructions of lifeguards and beach flags to prevent risks in areas with currents.”
