Cancun firemen rescue stray dog at bottom of 7 meter deep hole

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen reported on the rescue of a stray dog that fell into a cenote hole. Firemen were asked for help Wednesday during a citizen report when they heard the dog at the bottom of a narrow cenote hole.

The small dog was found at the bottom of the uncovered hole approximately seven meters deep. Cancun firemen reported having made several failed attempts at rescuing the dog before devising a rope and tube combination that allowed them to bring the dog to the surface.

Once resurfaced, the dog was fed and watered. According to a statement by the Cancun Fire Department, the dog has since been adopted and the hole, covered to prevent future incidences.

“Cancun residents, yesterday, our Cancun Fire Department responded to a report of a dog that fell into a 7-meter-deep cenote hole. The rescue was complex due to the size of the hole, but after several attempts, it was successfully rescued using a specially adapted rope and tube,” they explained.

“The dog was evaluated, fed, and hydrated. He is in good condition and has since been adopted. In addition, the hole was covered to prevent future risks. Prevention is also protection.”
