Tulum, Q.R. — A young Canadian woman died by drowning late Saturday afternoon off a beach in Tulum. She was pulled from the water by three people and returned to the sand where she was eventually pronounced dead.
Military personnel were at the scene in the center of the Tulum hotel zone Saturday in response to calls for emergency services. The woman was seen floating off shore when three people, a beach vendor and two tourists, ran into the sea to return her to the beach.
CPR efforts were applied, however, the young woman was unresponsive. The deceased has been identified only as a 28 year old tourist from Canada. She was staying at a nearby hotel at the time of the accident. The deceased’s mother was reportedly with her at the time of her drowning.
