Cancun, Q.R. — An early morning fire at a Cancun mechanic shop devoured at least four buses belonging to the Del Valle company. The fire happened inside a bus depot in SM 73 Monday morning.
Cancun firemen were at the scene over two hours battling flames that spread from one bus to another.

The fire was reported at the Del Valle bus company depot on Miguel Hidalgo Avenue around 7:00 a.m. According to the Cancun Fire Department, 10 people were evacuated from the area while the flames were fought.
Cancun Civil Protection reported the fire being officially under control with no injuries. City officials are investigating the cause of the large blaze that completely destroyed at least four company buses.
“Fire at auto repair shop and bus depot this morning,” Bomberos Cancun posted Monday.
“Cancun firefighters responded to a fire at an auto repair shop and bus depot located in Superblock 73. Working in coordination with Cancun Civil Protection personnel, they carried out fire control, extinguishing, and risk mitigation efforts to prevent the fire from spreading and to avoid further damage.
“As a precaution, 10 people were evacuated from the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, only material damage,” they said.
The fire left other vehicles in the yard with heat damage. While no injuries were reported, there was substantial material damage caused by the fire. There are reports two other buses suffered extensive damage.
A private vehicle was also reported devoured by the Monday morning fire.

According to initial reports, the fire quickly spread within the facilities. The extinguish operation involved 22 firefighters supported by rescue units, fire engines, and water tankers.
Cancun Civil Protection also reported on the Monday morning incident saying the fire was out and their investigation, started.

“Thanks to the swift intervention of our Cancun Fire Department, in coordination with Civil Protection, Cancun Police, and Public Services, a fire at a bus depot in SM 73 was fully controlled and extinguished.
“No injuries were reported, and the area remains under surveillance while the investigation into the cause of the incident continues.

“We recognize the work and commitment of all personnel who participated in this effort to protect the residents of Cancun.”
