Bacalar, Q.R. — The Command and Control Center of the municipality of Bacalar is finished and ready to operate. The new C2 facilities are nearly ready to be connected to the C4 of Chetumal and the C5 of Cancun. Once connected, Bacalar police will be able to better monitor community crimes.
Pablo Quiroga McLiberty, head of the Public Safety and Traffic Department of Bacalar said “we are almost ready to start with this connection project. We are working in coordination with the federal, state and municipal governments to ensure the safety of the people of Bacalar.
“This connection will allow us to further reduce the crime rates being committed.”
The only work left is electrical. He said the CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) is working on installing the necessary transformer for the expanded connections. Once finished sometime this month, they can move forward with their operation.
“The CFE will install the transformer and it will be connected, that’s all. We are going to do the necessary tests regarding the connection of the cameras and the equipment since these have already been installed.”
According to Quiroga McLiberty, the municipality does not have many public security cameras, so police are hoping the expanded connection will help with that.
“What we are looking for is that once operations start, we will get immediate results because in Bacalar there are not a large number of cameras, so this will allow us to advance in terms of security, including accidents and civil protection,” he explained.
He said seven posts of four cameras each are in cardinal points to achieve a 360-degree focus plus an additional camera at the top.
“These cameras will allow for greater surveillance in the municipality and reaction times in the event of any eventuality since they will be acting as a mirror as they will be interconnected with the municipality’s C2 and in turn with the Chetumal C4, which connects to the C5, that is, they will be interconnected,” he explained.
Once the interconnections are made, tests will be done to ensure the cameras are working correctly.
