Authorities tour up and coming 1.5 billion peso General Hospital of Chetumal

Chetumal, Q.R. — Authorities toured a new hospital being built in the city of Chetumal. The 1.5 billion peso project is expected to be finished by the end of 2025 and will serve the southern region.

Authorities toured the under-construction facility Thursday.

On Thursday, Governor Mara Lezama toured the site, reviewing progress of what will be the new General Hospital of Chetumal. Lezama says the new building is a fundamental project to strengthen medical care in the state and will improve medical services in the south with dignified spaces equipped with technology.

“Around 1.5 billion pesos are being invested in this hospital which includes both the construction and the equipment. It is a historic investment for the health of the people of Quintana Roo,” she said.

During her tour she noted the foundation work is close to completion, marking the beginning of more visible progress in the construction of this project.

“We are here building what will be the Chetumal General Hospital belonging to IMSS Bienestar. We are 26 percent complete and in the foundation phase,” she added.

Accompanied by the Secretary of Public Works, José Rafael Lara Díaz and the Quintana Roo Secretary of Health, Flavio Rosado, Lezama explained that the emergency and hospitalization area is already under development and that construction will soon begin on other sections.

The hospital is scheduled for opening by the end of 2025.

The new hospital will have outpatient clinics, laboratories, X-rays, operating rooms and general services, among others, she said.

According to the project, the work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, guaranteeing decent spaces and cutting-edge health services for the population in the south of the state.
