Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A ranch being used to bury human bodies has been seized in the municipality of Puerto Morelos. On Wednesday night, authorities located four buried bodies on private property off a highway in the town of Leona Vicario.

The state FGE reported that “as a result of investigative actions, skeletal remains of four people on a property used as a clandestine cemetery in the town of Leona Vicario in the municipality of Puerto Morelos,” were found so far.
“At the scene, 13 points of forensic interest were identified where skeletal remains might be found. At each of these locations, experts specializing in criminalistics, anthropology and forensic medicine, in coordination with members of the Investigative Police, are carrying out the corresponding work as part of this investigation,” the FGE (State Attorney General) said.
After locating the site, a joint operation was implemented with the support of elements of the Interinstitutional Group, to secure the area and carry out the corresponding processing.
The FGE said that the remains they located have been transferred to the Forensic Medical Service “for the practice of the corresponding expert studies in genetics, anthropology and forensic odontology, which will allow their scientific identification, as well as determine the time they had been in the place, in order to contribute to the clarification of the facts.”
The State Attorney General’s Office said it “reiterates its commitment to the victims and their families, guaranteeing that all investigations are conducted in strict adherence to human rights, with a gender perspective and under the highest technical and scientific standards.”

The state agency said while they are working to identify the remains found, they are also working to “locate, identify and bring to justice those responsible for these acts.”
