Cozumel, Q.R. — Police in Cozumel were part of a stranded vessel rescue Wednesday. According to Public Safety, they responded to the report of a stranded fishing vessel.
The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon when Public Safety officers, in coordination with the tourist police, under the command of shift coordinator Emanuel Pérez, were conducting patrols in the eastern part of the island.

Around 4:00 p.m., they received a report of a vessel in distress. The officers immediately traveled to the area known as Punta Molas aboard a Razer-type vehicle to provide assistance and assess the situation.
Simultaneously, other officers patrolling the urban area went to the boat ramp located in front of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) facilities where they spoke with the owner of the vessel.
He reported that three of his employees, all fishermen, were on board and had previously reported engine trouble.
The C2 monitoring system confirmed that a Mexican Navy vessel had located fishing boat San Dimas with the three crew on board.
The vessel was towed to the Sedena ramp where Port Authority personnel arrived to document the incident.
The rescued fishermen stated that they were in stable condition and did not require medical attention. Public Security acknowledges the timely intervention and inter-institutional coordination that allowed the safety of the crew members to be safeguarded.

Cozumel police reiterated their commitment to maintain surveillance and immediate response actions to any risk situation, for the benefit of the safety of citizens and those who carry out activities at sea.
