Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun have arrested four suspects in relation the three murders including the fatal shooting of a 12 year old boy. The four in custody are being held for their involvement in that shooting as well as two other city murders.
One of those arrested, Bryan Jair “N”, is being held on three Cancun murder charges as well as drug related offences. Another of the detained, Julio César “N”, is believed related to two of those same murders.
According to the State Attorney General (FGE), Bryan Jair “N” is believed responsible for a double murder on a Cancun bus July 1 as well as the shooting of a 12-year-old boy on a Cancun beach July 28.
On July 2, a man and woman were shot to death while riding a city bus in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The shooter fled the scene, leaving behind two dead bodies on the bus.
On July 28, a 12 year old boy was accidently hit by a stray bullet when four men arrived on two jet skis and opened fire against a different group of people. The stray bullet hit the boy in the chest. He was rushed to hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
In a statement, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said the four men arrested are the believed perpetrators of three homicides.
“Among the victims is a minor who lost his life in the area of a beach on July 28 of this year. The other two victims, a man and a woman, were murdered on a bus that was traveling on Kukulcán Boulevard,” they reported.
“Investigative Police arrested Julio César “N” alias “La Bomba” on Jacinto Canek Street in SM 222, who is related to a double homicide on a bus that was traveling on Kukulcán Boulevard on July 1. José Andrés “N” and Luis Ángel “N” were also arrested, who were in possession of possible narcotics.
“Initial investigations indicate that these three people belong to a criminal group dedicated to drug dealing and extortion. Previously, the detainees were part of another criminal organization that operates in the beach area.”
The FGE says according to their investigations, “Julio César “N” and two other subjects participated in the homicides that occurred on July 1. On that date, the now investigated people boarded a bus in the Punta Cancún area on Kukulcán Boulevard.
“Before arriving at the bus stop at Playa Tortugas, they saw six men from another criminal group get on the unit, with whom they exchanged gunfire, resulting in the death of one of the hitmen and a passenger. In the shootout, Julio César “N” was also wounded in the left shoulder.”
The four in custody are also believed responsible for the July 28 Cancun beach shooting. “On July 28, four men aboard two jet skis arrived at the beach area of a hotel where Julio César “N” was, where the two groups again confronted each other and a minor was injured — without being the target — and died.”
